Due to increasing popularity of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles both in military and civil use cases it is important to provide safe way of coexistence of UAVs and civil air-crafts in civil airspace. Upgrade of existing airspace managements systems is required so they can cope with different kinds of UAVs. The aim of the project was to:

  • creating rules of UAV systems management in uncontrolled polish airspace

  • creating prototype of information systems supporting UAV system management in uncontrolled airspace


The project had three participants: Mobile Systems Research Labs from Poznań University of Technology as a leader(which I was part of), Przemysłowy Instytut Automatyki i Pomiarów PIAP and ITTI Sp. z o.o.. My role was to support Technical Lead in management and development tasks.

Things I have done:

  • designed distributed system architecture for managing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in airspace,

  • designed and implemented session and application protocol used in the system,

  • designed and developed selected system components (.NET/Mono, WPF),

  • coordinated work of other project participants (work planning, estimation, gathering results and reporting to Authorities).
